Sawn Timber Fence & Gate Posts
Fence Posts
Fencing posts are normally either 75 x 75mm (3" x 3") or 100 x 100mm (4"x 4") and come in varying lengths from 1.2 (4") to 3.6m (12"). Posts can be treated either green or brown. For light fencing work eg. paled fencing we usually recommend 75 x 75mm (3" x 3"). For work on schools we recommend planed posts. Posts for post & rail fencing are usually 75 x 125mm (3" x 5") and are usually placed at 1.8m centres. We recommend you lay out a rail on the ground first to determine the centre of the middle post. Pergola posts are usually 100 x 100mm (4" x 4") that are either rough sawn or planed & radiused. We also sell 75 x 100mm (3" x 4") posts as well as round, concrete & plastic (Supalite) fence posts.
Gate Posts
Gate posts usually have a larger section, ranging from 125 x 125mm (5" x 5") right up to 200 x 200mm (8" x 8"). The majority of gate posts have a 4-way weather top giving them a more finished look. The large sections are heavy duty posts and can be used to hang large field, ranch and entrance gates, however, if you only require posts for a small pale gate, a 75 x 75mm will be more than sufficient.
